If there’s one thing this troupe lacks, it’s not originality.

The six-strong troupe from University College London’s free show features sketches satirising everything from complex social theory to low cost airlines:
At times – and there’s no denying it – it was pure dead brilliant, the series of sketches on a woman trying to teach poetry to prisoners made the show for me.
However, other sketches were too contrived to be funny. A particularly long sketch involving pirates arguing over social constructs springs to mind.
A suggestion would be to cut down the length of the sketches: often the apparent punchline was well before the end of the sketch.
Highlight? The following line: “Humanities: not even once.” It would have brought the house down if there was more than 20 people in the audience.
If you want free comedy, you might want to check them out – it’s just off Lothian Road and in a decent 7.45pm slot. (Venue 174, Citrus Club, Grindlay Steet)
