Just because chocolate is usually high in sugar and can be unhealthy, that doesn't mean there isn't a better alternative out there.

Ombar kindly sent us some of their raw cacao bars to try and they get a big thumbs up from our Lifestyle Editor Emmi Bowles.

What is Ombar?

For those who have never heard ot the chocolate company, they make healthy chocolate bars from raw and organic Ecuadorian cacao. Mixed with coconut sugar and real fruits these bars are packed with flavour but not the unwanted additives.

What's so great about it?

Despite the fact that Ombars come in a nine different flavours from 90% raw cacao to goji berry, they are also gluten and dairy free! You might think this wouldn't taste as good as your traditional Galaxy or Cadbury chocolate bar but that's where you'd be wrong. The bars are smooth in texture and bursting with flavour for those who like something a bit different than just plain milk chocolate.

With the use of natural and organically sourced ingredients, the bars are full of naturally occuring antioxidants and flavanols which make you feel a lot less guilty about having a chocolately treat.

Treat yourself!

Ombar isn't just a chocolately snack but can also be used to create some amazing treats from pancakes to cakes. It's a great way to have a sweet treat but without the added sugars and guilt.

You can buy Ombar chocolate from Ocado, Planet Organic, the Raw Chocolate Shop website and some other independant health food shops around the UK for £1.99.
