As a lover of tea I was so excite when Teapigs kindly sent me a box of their matcha sachets to try and invited me to take part in their #matchachallenge.

What is matcha?

Matcha is essentially pure green tea. One cup of matcha is the equivalent of 10 cups of normal green tea.

The Teapigs website says that matcha can help you to burn more calories, have healthier skin and help with concentration.

The challenge

The Teapigs matcha challenge is super easy. All you have to do is drink a cup of matcha every day for two weeks.

The results

Now I'm not going to lie and say I love matcha because despite liking green tea matcha is some seriously strong stuff and it takes a lot of getting used to. I've tried it with cold water, hot water and milk and to be honest the best way to drink it for me is to just down it.

I took it every morning before work and I do have to say I felt a lot more alive and like I had more energy than normal. It also helped to curb my appetite a bit. The more I drank it the easier it was to get used to the taste and the more energy I felt I had.

I didn't track my weight during the challenge and I didn't do much exercise besides walking around 10K-15K steps a day at work – so I can't comment on if it helped me to lose weight. But I do definitely feel that drinking matcha before going to the gym would help me keep my energy levels up and therefore be able to work out for long.

Despite the taste I ordered another box of their matcha sachets because I loved the way I felt after drinking it and the added energy it gave me.
