Dubbed the ‘safe for work’ hair dye trend of 2016, ‘underlights’ involve hiding secret layers of crazy coloured hair, underneath a natural top layer. So basically, you’re business on the top and all things unicorn, rainbows and awesome on the bottom – the perfect mix.
Simply get your stylist (or if you’re brave enough to give this a whirl at home, I’d definitely get a friend or two involved for the extra arms) to pin up a top layer of your current hair and bleach only those on the bottom. How you dye the underside is completely up to you, but as you’ll see below, the more adventurous the better!
Top tip: Make sure your pinned layer is full enough to cover all of the hair left out. Especially if you’ll be showing up to work, important uni presentations or job interviews anytime soon.
