It was revealed on 31 December that McLaren driver Jenson Button finally wed his fiancée Jessica Michibata. The lingerie model and racing driver have been in a relationship since 2008.
Button has had a difficult year following the death of his father last January. Fondly known as Papa Smurf his father was a strong supporter of his son’s racing and championed him throughout his career.
As the 2014 racing season began Button and the McLaren team hit a downward spiral, claiming a podium finish in the first race at Melbourne but struggling to reach fourth as the season progressed.
To top off a poor season for Button McLaren then took weeks to make a decision on whether or not to keep the 2009 world champion with the team going into 2015.
To round off the year, and hopefully continue into a great 2015, the Brit has married, the announcement coming via Twitter.

In 2015 Button is to stay at McLaren to help the team’s new relationship with Honda, alongside Fernando Alonso who has made the move from Ferrari. Fingers are crossed for a better year for Button and his new wife.
