Bestival is an annual four day event featuring live music, DJs and more, held on the Isle of Wight. Although comparisons are often drawn with the Isle of Wight festival, the two are very different. Bestival is a smaller yet more diverse event, often described as a boutique festival due to its innovative ideas and strong support of environmental causes.

This year the festival will be held at Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight from 10-13 September. And with a theme of ‘Summer of Love’ it looks to be even better than ever before. Embracing positivity, and featuring a largely female-led line-up, Bestival is seriously standing out from the crowd this year.

Bestival also offers unique and creative alternatives to the music. From delicious food, to films in the forest, to “Lost and Found,” there really is something for everyone. Add the infamous fancy dress day to the mix, and you will see that Bestival is one of the most light-hearted and fun festivals out there.

The line-up this year sees a variety of big names and up-and-coming artists performing across more than 10 stages. Encompassing a wide variety of genres from electronic to classic ‘80s pop, Bestival surely has one of the more eclectic line-ups in the country.

Headliners this year include The Chemical Brothers who are due to release their new album in 2015, and Underworld who have just finished a tour. Other headliners comprise of classic ‘80s band Duran Duran, The Jacksons, and Tame Impala, who seem to be touring the festival circuit this year.

Other notable faces on the 2015 line-up include garage duo Gorgon City, The xx’s Jamie xx, and American synth-pop band Future Islands. Female acts are also well represented at Bestival. Following the recent controversy over gender imbalance in festival line-ups, where Reading & Leeds were slated for having only nine acts with at least one female member in, this is a refreshing change. From Charli XCX to Ella Eyre and Rae Morris, the ladies certainly aren’t underrepresented at Bestival.

The latest acts to be announced are alternative singer-songwriter FKA Twigs, and Rudimental as part of Black Butter Soundsystem’s set in the Big Top.

With an outstanding line-up, Bestival 2015 is shaping up to be one of the highlights of this year’s festival calendar.
