Social craze: Twitter hashtag gets celeb #PizzaOnATrain

When I was scrolling through social media sites to see what was trending on Twitter, I came across a very popular hashtag: #PizzaOnATrain.

When I was scrolling through social media sites to see what was trending on Twitter, I came across a very popular hashtag: #PizzaOnATrain. I have seen all kinds of hashtags being used, but never have I seen such a demand for fast food on a piece of public transport.

Who?

As I dug a little deeper I soon realised what genius came up with this social craze: someone who comes not far from my neck of the woods. I am talking about Chris Ramsey, one of the Geordie celebrities from the north east. He is the stand up comedian and actor of the popular comedy programme ‘Hebburn’ and now the social media upstart of the hashtag #PizzaOnATrain.

Where?

This hashtag came about when Ramsey was travelling to Newcastle from London. That (in)famous route that I often do via the East Coast Line became rather interesting when Ramsey was hungry. He was on his smart phone and decided to do something silly.

When?

For those amongst you who have experienced long trips on these sorts of trains, then you will know that the food is not very tasty and for what you pay, you expect Jamie Oliver standard. This comedian from South Shields decided to do something about it, and while on his way home from London he took to Twitter and asked Domino’s Pizza to deliver their produce to Doncaster at 10:45pm.

What?

His order was a medium original base with meatballs, jalapenos and green peppers… Chris must have been really hungry to want all that food for himself. He started the hashtag #PizzaOnATrain so all his fans could follow his pizza journey.

Why?

Once he had eventually arrived to Doncaster, he met the pizza boy at the platform and took a ‘pizza selfie’ or a ‘sizza’ – maybe that can be the next social craze or hashtag on Twitter! In fact, the hashtag #PizzaOnATrain was trending worldwide, and got to number one on the trending Twitter charts.

With all that sharing on Twitter, I wonder if he shared the pizza round with the passengers on the train.
