At 11am on May 30, the hashtag #ThumbsUpForStephen spread across Twitter in tribute to Sutton.
The call came from Sutton’s mother, calling for a social media thunderclap.

The social media tribute came as a private funeral was held for Sutton. Sutton raised £4 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust, according to a report from the BBC, and has been regarded as a hero by many, with this photo on the Trust’s Facebook page.
