This year I had the privilege to travel to Monaco, one of the second-smallest independent state in the world with some of my family for the Formula One Grand Prix Race. Monaco is the epitome of class and culture and the perfect vacation spot to go to this summer and here’s a few reasons why:
The Hotel de Paris
The Hotel de Paris was built in 1864 and is one of the famous 5* luxury hotels based in the heart of Monte Carlo, known for its magnificent architecture and delivering remarkable views. It’s only a short distance from the race track and main tourist attractions, this elegant classy hotel will cost you a smashing 1,000 Euros just for a meal for two!
The Monaco Grand Prix
This glamorous motorsport race event staged its first Grand Prix in 1929 and runs through the Monaco streets once a year. The Circuit de Monaco circuit has been called “an exceptional location of glamour and prestige” and they weren’t lying. Racing down the streets of Monaco at 180 mph down casino square, it is the one race of the year that every driver dreams of winning. I was in luck because compared to other races on the calendar, the practice session for this race starts on a Thursday which meant I had the next day to sight-see, do a pit walk around the circuit and hang out with other motorsport fans before qualifying. Running for 72 years, this racetrack stands for everything that’s great about Formula One racing, noise, passion, stunning views and a hint of danger.
Casino Square
Spiritual home for the super-rich original visitors came to Monte Carlo for one reason, to gamble. Nowadays wealthy investors spend their time in the grand casino to pass the time are now drawn in by its top tax haven.
The French Riviera
The French Riviera is the Mediterranean coast of south eastern France. The Saint- Tropez beach resort is the perfect place to hang out when hot weather can prove to be a bit too much and the view during sunset in unmissable. If you explore around you’ll find many market stalls, artist and singers in the area.
Super Yachts
Monaco is mostly known for its luxury yachts and yes they really are as extravagant you have probably imagined. According to some of the locals i spoke to, the docking fees for only a week will usually end up in a six figure sum and the owner of the yacht is expected to pay $1 million every year to keep it up and running.
Monaco is one of the incredible parts of the world and has plenty to offer to tourists for those who love scenery, glamour and the fast pace lifestyle. I personally loved every bit of my time in Monaco but if there’s one thing i’ve learnt it’s to be prepared to spend a lot of money, as it’s extravagant lifestyle means few budget options.
