Frivolity

I never knew that! With Kettle Football Co-Editor Nathan Price

At Kettle Mag the editors remain hidden away in Kettle towers occupying themselves with ideas, proofing, tweeting and keeping their ears tuned to the latest news. But what do we really know about these creatures? Here at frivolity over the coming weeks we intend to find out…and this week on the penalty spot is Football co-editor Nathan Price.

My parents don’t know this about me but…

There’s nothing that springs to mind, me and my parents are quite close so they know most things!

What is your favourite word that rhymes with Kettle?

Either metal or petal. I’ve unfortunately somehow ended up with the nickname petal at work and now respond to it.

How long after you wake up do you check your phone?

Immediately, even if it’s just to turn off my alarm

Stranded on a desert island you wouldn’t be without…

Can I say my girlfriend or is that cheating? We’d have a fantastic adventure on a desert island. If it has to be an item probably my iPod.

What is the most revolting food you’ve ever eaten?

Liver, not exactly exotic but easily the worst taste I’ve experienced.

If you couldn’t co-edit the Football section for Kettle, which section would you choose?

Probably music, it’s always been something I’ve been passionate about. Sport, TV and film are also things I’m interested in.

Which friend that you met at uni is likely to be at your 60th birthday party?

Nathan Price, Kettle Mag

It’d take something extreme for me and Luke to not be friends years from now. We’re normally insulting to each others face but there’s a lot of mutual love there.

Wine or beer?

Beer, can’t stand wine.

Cat or dog?

Dog, I can’t stand cats either!

Cambridge or Liverpool?

Ouch, why did you have to go there? (Because I do my research, 😉 Ed. ) I’d have to say Liverpool, they’re the team that got me into football when I was a kid.

Android or iphone?

Used to be Android but since the iPhone 6 I’m a complete convert.

Apart from writing, what other creative talents do you have?

I’ve been playing guitar for a few years, though you wouldn’t be able to tell!

If you were a punctuation mark, what would you be?

An exclamation mark, I don’t tend to do things quietly!

What is your most unappealing habit?

I swear way too much and tune out of conversations too often.

What would you like to be remembered for?

I’d love for my writing to be admired by others and inspire others. Just like many writers have with me.

Have you ever volunteered for anything?

I’ve previously volunteered to help run several sports summer schools at my previous school.

Who so far, family or otherwise has influenced you in your life?

My family gave me a wonderful childhood and taught me some solid values. My year 6 teacher Mrs Parks really pushed my passion for reading and writing, I don’t think I’d be writing this now without her. My girlfriend has shown me how being driven can allow you to reach where you want to. I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by lots of great people in my life so far.

Which emoji do you use most frequently?

poop emoji, twitter.com

Smiling poo face. The best emoji ever.

What was the last song you listened to on your ipod/phone?

The Wonder Years – ‘Passing Through A Screen Door’

A brilliant slice of emotional, passionate pop-punk.

What was the last thing you googled?

Words that rhyme with Kettle, funny that!

Do you listen regularly to any podcasts?

I listen to That’s Not Metal every week, it’s a new, great and honest music podcast on rock and metal. I’ve never been big on podcasts but I’m coming around.

What is your most over used word or expression?

Not necessarily a word or expression, but everyone close to me would vouch for my overuse of sarcasm. It’s not the lowest form of wit I swear!

What keeps you awake at night?

Worrying thoughts, the future and one last game of FIFA.
