Ex-Conservative Chairman, Cecil Parkinson has died aged 84 after a long battle with cancer.
He is credited with playing a key role in Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative victory in 1983.
At one point he was considered one of Mrs Thatcher’s closest allies within the party but his career was hit by scandal when it was revealed his secretary, Sarah Keays, was carrying his child. He later returned to the cabinet as Energy and then Transport Secretary.
He also served in the war cabinet during the 1982 Falklands conflict.
