Air travel is a huge part of modern day life for many people. It can also be something that can cause quite a lot of stress and cost a fair amount of money, so it is always worth seeking out ways that you can improve your air travel experience. Fortunately, there are plenty of great tips and tricks that any seasoned traveller will appreciate learning.

Airline Miles

If you are a frequent flyer then it is highly worth signing up to a frequent flyer program with an airline so that you can clock up airline miles (you will receive more with longer flights and by booking business or first-class). Most also partner with hotels and car rentals, so book with them to collect more miles. Additionally, if you sign up for the credit card you often get access to the airport club which can be a more relaxing way to wait for your flight.

Security

Getting through airport security is one of the more time-consuming and stressful aspects of air travel. To get through quickly, wear shoes that are easily to slip on/slip off and forgo wearing a belt and any jewellery on the day of travel (or take them off in advance and place in your hand luggage). It is obvious, but arriving early allows you to get through quickly where you can then relax and wait for your flight.

Empty Leg Flights

If you want to experience what flying on a private jet is like but cannot afford to charter a jet, take a look at empty leg flights. Most private jets are chartered one way, so you can book onto the return leg flight for much more affordable prices. The destination and time will be pre-determined, but it is a terrific way to experience this glamorous form of transportation.

Roll Clothes

Struggling to fit everything in your suitcase? Try rolling your clothes instead of folding to take up much less space – it is also quicker too. They may need ironing when you get to the hotel, but it is a great way to improve your packing and especially if you are in a hurry.

Download the App

In today’s day and age, most major airlines have their own app which can be incredibly handy. These often allow you to check in online which is quicker and much easier, plus you can also get updates on delays or gate changes. There are often great savings and deals to take advantage of too.

These tips and tricks can be used to make flying a much smoother and more enjoyable experience. Whether you are jetting off for a holiday or flying for business reasons, you will always want to be aware of how you can minimise stress and enjoy your flight.
