The Steel City, otherwise known as Sheffield, will be host to Tramlines Festival for its ninth time this year. A total of 5 stages with over 70 genre-spanning acts will take over the city from Friday 21st July to Sunday 23rd July.

Tramlines calls itself a ‘no-mud, no-camping hassle’ festival in the heart of the fourth biggest city in the UK, promising a grand production that gives you the chance to see established artists alongside up-and-coming acts.

The Music

The music this year ranges from grime to indie, hip hop to dub, soul to funk, reggae to rock, R&B and pop.

Expect to see big names such as The Libertines, All Saints, Kano, Metronomy, Primal Scream, Toots & The Maytals and Akala, as well as local favourites The Big Moon, Blaenavon, Champion,  Don Letts, Flamingods, Lucy Spraggan and more.

Ponderosa Park

This year’s edition comes with a twist. It’s going to be ran on a new exclusively outdoor format, spanning three of Sheffield’s best park spaces; Ponderosa Park for the Main Stage and the Into The Trees stage, Devonshire Green as Stage 2, and Endcliffe Park as the Folk Forest stage.

This new structure makes this year their biggest lineup to date, a decision which came after feedback from festival goers.

Sarah Nulty, Tramlines Festival Director, said:

“The overwhelming feedback was that people wanted to see bigger acts on the Tramlines stages. Sheffield is often hailed as an 'Outdoor City', and has a ton of public parks, and a third of it sits within the glorious Peak District National Park.”

Tramlines has previously seen the likes of Basement Jaxx, The Charlatans, Sister Sledge, The Cribs, Katy B, alt-J, the xx, AlunaGeorge, Roots Manuva, Ms Dynamite, Slaves, Sugarhill Gang, Echo and the Bunnymen and many more.

Weekend tickets are on its fourth release for £49.50. After party tickets are for £15.40 on Friday and Saturday and £5.50 on Sunday.
