It’s a no go for 6Tinder as the dating application that was on the Windows Store for under 24 hours was removed following a request by the makers of the Tinder app. The unofficial version of the dating app was released, albeit briefly, by prolific Windows app maker Rudy Huyn.

Windows Phone users may well be familiar with Huyn who has built a name for himself releasing high-quality WP friendly versions of popular apps such as Snapchat (6snap) and Instagram (6Tag) before the official versions hit mobile operating system.

6Tinder vs Tinder – the tale began

The main notable difference between Snapchat’s official IOS and Android app and Huyn’s 6Snap is the inability to screenshot “snaps.” Huyn, earlier in the month, addressed this by saying that Snapchat would remove the app if the feature was enabled.

Microsoft do have apps of a similar ilk to Tinder and the Microsoft app Nearby, is currently the closest that users will get to Tinder but many users will still have been disappointed to see Huyn’s 6Tinder removed from the Store whilst there is no official version.

Tinder, now available on Android and IOS is a popular app where you can swipe across to nearby people who you believe are a “match.” You select a radius in which you want to find people and then the app shows you a list. If you both like each other then you get to message.

So what next for Windows Phone?

Rudy Huyn’s 6Tinder offered everything that the official Tinder app offered, albeit with some of the Windows Phone feature’s missing from the earlier release. 6Snap users will be impressed by the functionality of the Live Tile feature.

Windows Phone fans however will not be completely void of a Tinder app and shortly after Tweeting the news that his own app had been removed from the Store Rudy Huyn Tweeted that he is due to start working on an official app with the Tinder team.

This news came days after Huyn said on his Twitter page that a rival company was looking into getting him to make his 6Tinder app capable of working with their product.

The news that there will be an official WP port of the Tinder app will be good news for users whether or not they want to download it. The fact that one of the market big-boys are looking at getting into the Windows Phone market early is a stark contrast to Instagram whose Beta launched year after their original release.

It also shows that up-and-coming developers such as Rudy Huyn are not just being left in the lurch. A talented developer many Windows Phone users will find that his app ports are what stops the platform falling further behind.

Do you think that it was right to remove 6Tinder from the Windows Store? Are you a fan of 6Tag or 6Snap? Have your say in the comments section below.
