Candid, current and creative, travel blogs are fast becoming the go-to resource for researching your next epic trip, or if you’re anything like me, an excellent way to lose yourself and create that fantasy round the world trip you only dream of taking.

Waegook Tom

Flying the rainbow flag, Waegook Tom (Foreign Tom) is “travelling the world one step at a time.” A British expat living in South Korea since 2009, Tom is planning to finally embark on his mission to set foot on every inhabited continent before he reaches the big three-0! He’s already made a sizable dent in Asia, Oceania and Europe, leaving him four years to cover the rest. Tom’s posts cover everything from his quirky adventures in South Korea, language tips, food porn from around the world and great tips on LGBT travel.

Twenty Something Travel

One of the most followed travel blogs, Steph has found a great niche writing for travellers in their twenties. Her website is dedicated to giving us hard-up students advice on how to travel the world when you’re a bit cash-strapped, including posts on how to save 20k in 2 years (yes please!), how to get the most out of studying abroad and which places to try and avoid. The advice is incredibly practical but there’s a hell of a lot of charm and beauty in there too.

Flora the Explorer

Flora is one of those people you admire, but secretly turn you a little green with envy when no-one’s looking. On a mission to search for the weirdness of the world, Flora’s definitely taken the challenge to task. So far she’s been to a traditional Indian wedding, worked on a rice farm in Thailand, built schools in Kenya, chaperoned kids to discos in Lithuania, wandered the souks of Syria and studied literature in San Francisco. That’s a hell of a lot of stuff, and there’s a whole load more to explore on the site. Plus, she still has a huge bucket list to work through. Phew!

Camels and Chocolate

Kristen Luna is a self-confessed travel addict and professional travel writer, and her blog is simply beautiful. She has some great tips for planning trips and packing the right kind of gear from her wealth of travel experience. Posts cover every continent and are accompanied by stunning photography, which you can attempt to replicate in her photography corner. There’s even a page dedicated to her professional portfolio which covers every destination and topic you could shake your jealous passport at.

WanderTooth

My pick of the bunch—WanderTooth is run by Kate and The Geoff, a bit like Florence and her enigmatic Machine. It’s full of ‘travely’ goodness to satiate that unquenchable craving to wander the world, but will only leave you wanting more. Not being too fussy about where they go or how, their blog covers pretty much caters for every type of traveller and makes for great series, such as ‘The A-Holes of History’ and ‘Around the World in 80 Drinks.’ It’s a fantastic blog, run by extreme travel devotees chronicling their awesome adventures, with a generous dollop of humour and loveable charm.
