Reading Festival, Kettlemag, Leah Marten
Written by LeahMarten

With just days to go until kick off for Reading Festival (unless you’re lucky enough to possess an early bird ticket) we thought we’d give you a list of bands that you should 100% check out this year. Of course, we wouldn’t just leave you with a name and link so we’ve provided a small bio for each act– just for you!

The Smith Street Band

An Australian four piece with a folk-punky vibe, The Smith Street Band will leave catchy lyrics resounding through your head all weekend. Expect big things from these guys.

FRIDAY – LOCK UP

Ducking Punches

The same genre as The Smith Street Band, the 5 piece Norwich band is one band you don’t want to miss. Although they’ve been around since 2010 their music ignites a deep yearning for more making them a band we believe is sure to make the big time soon.

SATURDAY – BBC INTRODUCING

Manchester Orchestra

Soulful yet totally kick ass. This is a band that’ll have you falling in love with their ballads and bangers. Their style is simple yet effective.

SUNDAY – FESTIVAL REPUBLIC

A$AP Ferg

Part of A$AP Mob, the American Hip Hop artist will grow on you. Despite pre-judgements you might have against A$AP, I guarantee thee more you listen, the more you and your friends will be chanting lyrics this weekend.

FRIDAY – RADIO1XTRA

P E L L

Fancy experimenting with some soul? Well P E L L is the next big thing. A total catch when you’re feeling those moody Mondays. P E L L has just released a new track – Vanilla Sky – so you should 100% check him and it out. Don’t worry, if you don’t have time to catch him this weekend then you can catch him on his current UK Tour.

FRIDAY – RADIO1XTRA

Mooseblood

One of the hottest breakthrough British bands on 2015, Mooseblood bring something a little different into the new wave of emo. A band you shouldn’t miss on the staple point that they’re awesome for pumping vibes and calm comedowns.

SUNDAY – THE PIT (Lock up)

The Bulletproof Bomb

These nearly 20 some things have taken BBC introducing London and many of the Radio 1 DJs by the scruff of their necks and have managed to move up a stage to Festival Republic for their second year. Strong hints of Jamie T to be found here, so if you like this sort of thing get down to be Festival Republic Stage on Friday.

FRIDAY – FESTIVAL REPUBLIC

Frank Turner

Usually a bubbly and energetic performance can be seen by Frank and The Sleeping Souls – although this intimate set features only Frank. With feel good lyrics that hit home and some melodic tunes to accompany them, you’ll never want to stop listening to this guy (or stop looking at him). Ending the festival for Festival Republic on Sunday evening.

SUNDAY – FESTIVAL REPUBLIC

Treason Kings

A dominating sound, and an off-grunge vibe this band will start off your weekend on BBC introducing and leave you ready to rock and roll.

“Treason Kings music may actually smack you in the face… what they do is some of the best you’ll hear in this genre” – Leeds Music Scene

FRIDAY – BBC INTRODUCING

MARMOZETS

Female fronted breakthrough band for the alternative side to music, Marmozets have earned their spot on this years Saturday Main Stage. Piercing vocals and electric highs will leave you buzzed. If you like the ‘weird and wonderful’ you’ll certainly love this dynamic group.

SATURDAY – MAIN STAGE

Hopefully this will have given you some gap fillers for this weekend’s line-up, we’ll certainly be checking out all of these artists (clash permitting) but we’ve saved the best for last!

ALEXISONFIRE

This year for 2 days only, Alexisonfire will be performing in the UK as part of their 2015 comeback tour. That’s right, they’re only performing at Reading and Leeds. So whether you like them or not and even if you’ve never heard of them before – you’d be mental to miss it.

SATURDAY – MAIN STAGE
