A strong desire to pack your suitcase and get the first flight to anywhere around the world can be tempting and everyone's travel list can be full of some great countries they wish to travel too. Our Travel feature, "Around the World", gives us a glimpse into the places and countries our editors here at Kettle travelled too. This week, we have a look at the places our Lifestyle and Student Life editor Emmi Bowles has been too.

What countries have you been to so far?

I have only ever been to Spain and the Balearic islands

What is your preferred choice of transport? (Train, aeroplane, ferry, car…)

Despite having to get a ferry to and from school throughout most of my life I much prefer to fly places, so much so I fly home from university rather than get a train.

Would you prefer a winter or a summer vacation?

I have always gone away during the summer and I think it would be weird to have a winter holiday.

If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Ibiza, even though it’s where I have been going since I was 3 years old it will always be my go to place.

Your top 5 countries are?

  • Spain
  • France
  • Italy
  • England
  • Netherlands

Who is would be or is your ideal travel companion and why?

It would have to be my boyfriend. It’s nice to have somebody you know you can rely on and I can get quite flustered when things go wrong so having somebody calm there can really help.

What is your favourite or worst moment whilst on holiday?

My favourite moment on holiday is probably turning up to the bar our family friends own and seeing them for the first time in three years. It was an evening full of tears, laughs and sangria.

What is your favourite country to visit and why?

Spain, particularly Madrid. I went there with my university for a week and it was an amazing experience.

What is the worst country to visit and why?

I have never been to a place I didn’t like so I guess I’ve been lucky.

When do you think is the right time to go on holiday?

The last two weeks of August. It helps you to get through the summer as you have something to look forward to and then the relaxation and sunshine give you a boost of energy ready to start back at work.

How long do you go tend to go on holiday for?

I have only really gone away for two weeks at a time and I don’t think I would want to go on a proper holiday for less than two weeks. The first week goes slow but then the second week goes so fast so I think one week would be far too short.

What activities do you like to do whilst on holiday? (Sunbathe, hiking, surfing..)

I usually just sit and read. I’m not a big sunbather so I try to fill the day by playing the games they put on during the day in the hotel. Water polo is definitely my specialty.

What countries are you planning to visit in the future?

For my 21st I really want to go to either Paris or London and be a tourist. But I also want to go to Rome and back to Ibiza.
