Embarking upon university life is exciting and a brand new adventure. But, when it’s time to say goodbye to some of your closest friends, it can be one of the hardest things to do.
Here are five top tips and things to always remember to keep that friendship strong and still thriving.
Drop them a message every now and again
This may seem obvious but it’s easy to understandably forget when your deadlines are slowly stacking up and you’re both busy with making your way in life.
Just a quick message to say ‘Hi, how are you?’ or ‘Hi, I miss your ugly mug’ (me and my best friend are pretty brutal) let’s them know you’re thinking of them and I guarantee will instantly put a smile on their face.
When you go home for the weekend, always make the effort to try and see them
The key factor here is effort, if you go home at any point just drop them a text or call to ask what they’re up to and if they’re free for a coffee or even better a good old sleepover!
After all, you’re more than likely going to have a million things you need to fill them in on and there’s no better way of doing that than over lunch or wrapped under a duvet with snacks a glass of wine.
Remember they’re always there for you
No matter what, you will always be there for each other, so it’s vital that you remember that fact. Sometimes life gets in the way and it’s hard being away from someone that you may be used to speaking to every single day.
But, if your bond is really that strong, there’s nothing that’s going to stop them being there for you in your time of need (should you require them).
Remember nothing is too much trouble
It’s easy to get into the habit of thinking you’ll be a burden if you need a hand with something or just need someone to speak to. Life gets busy and stressful sometimes, and it’s only right that it’s our best friend we turn too.
Don’t be scared to ask or call, you’re un-biological siblings after all!
Remember no matter how far, they love you
We’re fortunate to live in the 21st century where technology is amazing. No distance can ever get in the way unless you let it and remember no matter how far the distance may be, there’s nothing that can wreck your bond.
They love you no matter if you’re 10 minutes or 10 hours away, and that is something that will never change!
