The summer in London means that there are new and exciting things happening every single week and with no sign of this heat ending anytime soon it’s the perfect time to get up and go try out something new. I’ve compiled a list of the top 5 things you need to do in London this weekend. Pick your favourite, buy your ticket (if necessary) and get out and enjoy your two days of freedom before heading back to work:

1. Backyard Cinema classic film festival takeover:

There are tons of pop-up cinemas in London this summer, but this is one unique event not to be missed.  With the sun shining all weekend long there is no other way you should be watching a film. The 7 films that are playing over two days are: The Hobbit, Four Lions, Life of Pi, Tremors, Trance, The Big Lebowski and Jurassic Park. Not only can you watch films while relaxing on beanbags and deck chairs and enjoying the sunshine, but it also includes craft beers, DJ’s, live bands and a BBQ. Get tickets while you can, which won’t be much longer! www.backyardcinema.co.uk

2. Lovebox

Happening from today (19th July) to this Sunday, Lovebox is an exciting festival that has been running for over a decade. You can expect a party-filled line up, cool art installations and a carnival themed set-up. The weather forecast this weekend means there’s no excuse for missing this huge event. The focus this year is to create mini clubs in each venue and with the top names in Reggae, Disco and so much more it’s a guaranteed good time. www.mamacolive.com/lovebox

3. Electric Daisy Carnival

EDC has finally made it’s way to London and fans of the famous electronic music festival will be flocking to it this Saturday for it’s first appearance outside of the USA. With a venue like the Olympic park fans can be ensured it’s going to be a big one, showcasing some of the top names in music including Avicii, Tiesto and so much more. www.electricdaisycarnival.co.uk

4. Tour De France Fan Park

This is the last weekend to head to the Tour De France fan park this year! This pop up is a celebration of the biggest bike race on earth and the number one place to be tuning into all the action. Here you can watch the race streamed live, take part in cycling-themed events and enjoy delicious food and drinks. If you haven’t stopped by this awesome pop-up yet then this is your last chance this summer! www.tourdefrancefanpark.co.uk

5. Whitecross Street Party

If you’re looking for something a little different to do this weekend and you’re into the arts then the Whitecross Street Party is the place to be. This street festival goes all the way from Barbican to Old Street showcasing the best in art. There will be art exhibitions, street artists doing live paintings and the odd food stall thrown in here and there. If you want something a bit more chilled, but still want to make sure you’re outside this weekend then this is one cool event that is sure to suit your every need. www.wxstreetparty.co.uk
