The Day of Love is just around the corner and those amongst us who have a romantic date planned will be wondering what to wear. So how can we dress to impress our Valentines? Here’s a low down of the best high street finds for every one of your needs.
Date night
Of course, if there’s ever a reason to dress up and impress, it’s for your Valentine. If you have a classic date night planned, opt for something that you feel comfortable in, but most importantly makes you feel fierce and fancy.
The most obvious choice is a dress. With this you have two options; to be girly and flirty or channel some serious Bey vibes and don something sassy.
This sultry number from misguided is the perfect mix of girly and classy. The dusky pink is a classic choice for Valentine’s but the silky material and diving cleavage will keep you feeling grown up and all eyes will be on you. Pair with minimal accessories, , preferably nude, like these strappy heels.
This whole ‘lingerie’ vibe has been moved from the bedroom to the street, as seen by the likes of Calvin Klein, Givenchy and Wes Gordon’s Spring 2016 catwalks.
Missguided ‘Silky kimono wrap dress dusky pink’, £25.00
Missguided ‘barely there heeled sandals nude’, £25.
If you’re looking for something that will give you more coverage, this white Gypsy-inspired dress is a dream choice. Floaty and minimalist this look is effortless but oozes cool. Add some fine, long chain necklaces and boots to finish off the look.
ASOS ‘Cold Shoulder Lace Trim Dres’, £22.00
ASOS ‘Fine Filigree Disc Multirow Necklace’, £8.00
Finally, if all else fails, don’t panic. There is also that hot red dress that’s bound to turn heads.

Galentines’
If you’re spending Valentine’s hanging out with the girls, throw on a simple shirt dress and pair with some killer thigh high boots for some amazing squad goals.

Comfy and casual
Dresses not your thing or is your day not going to be skirt friendly, if you’re off ice-skating or bowling for example?
No worry.
Opt for trousers, which will look smart and chic but are much less restricting than their skirt counterparts.
A bold pattern will turn heads whilst the pinstripe is very popular at the moment and remains a slimming choice.
Topshop ‘Stripe Print Cigarette trousers’, £39.
Add a classic polo top to keep things simple but flattering.
River Island ‘Light pink ribbed bodysuit’ £25.00
Denim is a big trend watch right now, so you don’t need any other excuse to throw out the skirts and pull on your favourite jeans.
For a vintage vibe, chose mom jeans, which are surprisingly flattering. Pair this with a red wrap front top to feel the V-day vibes.
Urban Outfitters ‘Kimchi Blue Crush Wrap Top’, $39
Topshop ‘MOTO pretty blue mom jeans’, £40.00
A day of grunge
Maybe the statement dress and pastel palettes aren’t for you and you feel more comfortable in reliable black and rock chick vibes.
If so, there’s no reason you can’t still feel a million dollars on the day. This T-shirt/midi dress clash is the perfect balance of casual and dressy, and the dull palette gives room for more expressive makeup, like statement red lips.
Pair with some classic doc martens and a half moon bag which has been seen all over the runway for SS16, namely with Victoria Beckham.
Topshop ‘Two in One T’shirt Midi Dress’, £24.
Dr Martens Dupree shoe, £90.
