Summer is officially over and Autumn has officially kicked in. The changing season always wreak havoc to our skin and beauty routine. The weather is constantly changing leaving our skin dry, lacking moisture and majorly dehydrated. If not maintained properly, our skin can become dull, dehydrated and be prone to break-outs.

Bad skin can cause chaos to our makeup game, so it is essential that you switch up your skincare routine once in a while to save your skin from damage. If you are struggling to keep your skin hydrated and acne free. Don’t worry we’ve got you covered, heres  top tips on how to keep your skin luminous, glowing and radiant all the time:

1. Exfoliate

Exfoliating is so important to keep our skin hydrated because our skin is covered with dead skin cells which stops moisture from entering the skin. DR Anita Sturnam says in Harper Bazaar: “Gentle exfoliation plays a key role in skin radiance by removing complexion-dulling dead skin cells and allowing new, fresh and healthy skin cells to reach the surface.”

2. Moisturize religiously

Moisturize like your life depends on it because it does. It is so important to moisturize as often as possible especially after exfoliating or going outside because our skin can easily become dry when exposed to different heated and cold environments. Moisturising before applying foundation will stop dry patches from forming on your skin.

Try moisturizers including Aloe Vera and Vitamin E to help hydrate and soothe your skin.  Moisturize before going to sleep will help lock in hydration and carrying lip-balm everywhere will keep your lips crack-free. Applying Oils in your bedtime beauty routine are essential for keeping your skin smooth, soft and hydrated.

3. Choose your cleanser wisely

Choosing your cleansers carefully during winter avoids even more skin dehydration. You should avoid soap and fragrance cleansers according to dermatologic experts as they can irritate the skin, opt for cream cleansers that contain hypoallergenic products and that are alcohol.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Multi-Miracle Grow can be used as a cleanser to get baby soft skin or as a night mask to hydrate your skin overnight.

4. Always apply Sunscreen SPF

We cannot stress the importance of wearing SPF every day no matter the weather. Your skin needs protecting just as much in cold winter days just as much as it does in summer!

You can find most SPF in makeup and foundation but it’s good to apply a layer before moisturizing too.  After Water, SPF is the best single best thing you can do for your complexation so it’s time you take it seriously! Read the importance of SPF here

5. Sleep, Drink Water and eat well

No matter how many skincare products you pile on- you will never get rid of dry skin if you do not drink water and eat healthily. Your skin is made up of 64% and is largely controlled by hydration levels. Drink the recommended two liters of water a day, even more, if you want a natural glow, along with getting your 8 hours of beauty sleep.

If drinking water is a struggle for you, then try eating as much food as possible that are high in water content including watermelon, cucumber, oranges etc.

To put it simply you are what you eat. If you eat good, you feel good and you are good!
