At Kettle Mag the editors remain hidden away in Kettle towers occupying themselves with ideas, proofing, tweeting and keeping their ears tuned to the latest news. But what do we know about these busy creatures? Here at frivolity over the coming weeks we intend to find out…and this week F1 editor Holly Wade finds herself in pole position.

My parents don’t know this about me but…

If I’m alone in the house I sing at the top of my lungs – apologies to my neighbours

What is your favourite word that rhymes with Kettle?

Mettle because it’s about coping well through difficult times and we all have to use ours at some point in life

How long after you wake up do you check your phone?

I keep my phone next to my bed so as soon as I wake up I roll over and check the time

Stranded on a desert island you wouldn’t be without…

My entire bookcase – I have a good 50 books that I haven’t got around to reading yet so I could indulge myself whilst I waited for help (hopefully it would arrive)

What is the most revolting food you’ve ever eaten?

Mushrooms – nothing exotic. There’s something about them when they’re cooked, they look like little slimy slugs!

If you couldn’t edit the F1 section for Kettle, which section would you choose?

I’d probably choose TV, I’m a bit telly obsessed. I’m definitely the remote control hogger in my house and I’m forever recording programmes

Which friend that you met at uni is likely to be at your 60th birthday party?

I’ve got quite a few close friends from uni so they all make the cut but I’d say my friends from home are the ones I’ll always be closest to

Wine or beer?

Wine, but only because it’s the lesser of two evils – I’m more of a cocktail girl

Cat or dog?

Neither I’m afraid – I’m really not an animal lover

Football or rugby?

Can I just say F1 instead?! If push came to shove then rugby, football is too fake for me

Android or iphone?

iPhone – I only got my first iPhone just over a year ago and it still amazes me the amount of things that I can do on it. I’m like an old lady when it comes to technology!

Apart from writing, what other creative talents do you have?

I’m really not very creative at all but I do like a good sing and a dance. I did a lot of school productions and musical theatre is a bit of a passion of mine

If you were a punctuation mark, what would you be?

I’d probably say an exclamation mark because it’s quite versatile – it can go from showing extreme excitement to expressing anger or shock

What is your most unappealing habit?

Probably picking off my nail varnish and leaving it in a pile on the armchair because I’ve forgotten to put it in the bin!

What would you like to be remembered for?

Making my friends and family laugh

Have you ever volunteered for anything?

I did do a day with BBC Sport in Manchester a few years ago where I worked with young children on their TV presenting skills

Who so far, family or otherwise has influenced you in your life?

I think my parents have probably influenced me the most in my life, being an only child they’re the people I’ve spent most of my time with

Which emoji do you use most frequently?

It’s a toss-up between the girl pushing her hair up and the cocktail icon

What was the last song you listened to on your ipod/phone?

‘Figure 8’ by Ellie Goulding – I’m a bit obsessed with her! I recently got tickets for her March concert and I am so excited!

What was the last thing you googled?

According to my iPhone history I last looked up some statistics about F1 driver Sergio Perez!

What is your most over used word or expression?

I say “as if” quite a lot, channelling my inner Cher from Clueless. Though my mum would probably say that I say “like” a lot

What keeps you awake at night?

Literally anything and everything – from what I’m doing the next day to any stresses that I might have. I’m a complete worrier so I rarely fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.
